Today I am teaming up with a few friends to share some fruit themed activities including a fruit sentence scramble that’s perfect for little ones working on reading simple sentences. You can scroll down to the bottom of this post to see all of the fruit themed freebies!
Sentence scrambles are one of my favorite activities, especially for Kindergarten and First Grade students. They are very simple to make and can easily be customized to meet the needs of your students or child. Here are a few skills that will be developed with this activity:
- Reading simple sight words (I, like)
- Recognizing features of a sentence including uppercase letters and punctuation
- Sentence fluency
- Reading comprehension
Fruit Sentence Scramble Directions:
- Download and print the free Fruit Sentence Scramble by clicking HERE or accessing it inside my Free Resource Library. As always, I recommend printing on this paper and laminating the pages for extra stability! This is my favorite personal laminator!
- Cut apart each word in the sentence scramble to make six sentences.
- Next, help your child unscramble the sentences. The pictures on each word are there to help! Remind them to look for an uppercase letter to begin the sentence and punctuation to end the sentence. This can be completed on a table, the floor or on a pocket chart!
- Read each sentence together! If your child is able and interested, encourage them to write each sentence too using the writing page provided in the free download or write additional sentences that could be included in the scramble. Such as: I like to eat watermelon..
