Are you looking for the best Valentine’s Day preschool activities to keep your class or little ones learning this February? This post is a round-up of my very favorite preschool Valentine’s Day centers and activities for Pre-K students.
Valentine’s Day Preschool Sensory Play
Sensory play is so important and one of my favorite things to do with little ones. I love setting up simple sensory bins. Sensory bins are just a fancy name for a bin of stuff that kids (or anyone) can touch, taste, smell, see and/or hear. If you are new to sensory bins, be sure to read this post: Getting Started with Sensory Bins. It will walk you through what a sensory bin is and how to set one up in your classroom or at home.
Here are a few favorite sensory bin items for February :
- Colored pom poms
- Pink and red pipe cleaners
- Foam Hearts
- Heart cookie cutters
- Red or pink rice
- Conversation Hearts
Valentine’s Day Preschool Centers
Preschoolers are focused on learning skills like colors, numbers, letters, and more! Here are a few fun Valentine’s Day preschool activities that can be added to centers in your classroom or even used at home! Each of these activities is included inside Valentine’s Day Pocket Chart Activities.
Valentine’s Day Sentence Scramble
Sentence scrambles are one of my very favorite activities because they hit so many skills at once and feel like a little puzzle for your students. Sight words, sentence structure, and color words are just a few of the skills your students will be practicing! You can give this Valentine’s Day Sentence Scramble activity a try for free!
Valentine Color Cards
Your students will love this Valentine’s Day themed activity! Students will match colored objects to each color word! It’s simple and fun for little ones learning color words. It is one of the five pocket chart activities inside of Valentine’s Day Pocket Chart Activities for Preschoolers.
Valentine’s Day Letter Matching
For this activity, students will match the uppercase letter to its lowercase letter. A fun heart visual is included to help younger students. It is one of the five pocket chart activities inside of Valentine’s Day Pocket Chart Activities for Preschoolers.
Valentine Clip Cards
These Heart Visual Discrimination Clip Cards are a great way to introduce letters and numbers to students in a non-intimidating way! Students will look at each letter or number and simply find the one that matches and clip a clothespin next to it. Using wooden clothespins is another way to build fine motor skills!
You can learn more about visual discrimination in this post, Why You Should Be Teaching Visual Discrimination.
Valentine’s Day Crafts
Preschools love making crafts! These easy valentine crafts are simple and don’t require a lot of preparation or materials. Your students will enjoy making them and also work on those important fine motor skills!
Fine Motor Heart Tree
I love an easy sticker activity! This heart tree craft is easy to use with paper hearts, foam heart stickers, or heart stickers! Just print a heart tree for each student and let them decorate it with hearts! This activity (and many others) are available in my February Toddler Activities Bundle!
Paper Tearing Card
This “I love you to pieces!” card is such an easy valentine’s card to make! It’s the perfect card to send to far-away family or friends! If you pre-cut the paper, even toddlers can enjoy making it! You can grab this printable valentine card for free in this post, Easy Valentine Card for Kids.
