I am all about some simple play activities; especially for babies with short attention spans! I did each activity shown here with my almost one year old. As always, you are the expert on your child. Please carefully supervise and use your best judgement for any activities! I also want to say that any of these activities can be done with your child at any time during the year! I just made them valentine themed since it is February! So without further ado, here are three easy valentine baby play ideas:

Pom Sorting
EK just loves just putting things in bowls, baskets and drawers. I found these plastic heart shaped bowls at Walmart and just added some valentine colored pom poms. She loved picking up the poms and moving them from bowl to bowl. Please, please, please be careful with using poms! They can be a choking hazard. They come in all different sizes, so choose a size appropriate to your little one! Older toddlers could sort the poms by color and/or size.

Pipe Cleaner Pull
This one was our favorite and it was SO easy! I just stuck 10ish pipe cleaners into the holes of a colander right out of my kitchen cabinet. Then I used a few foam hearts (with the peel off sticky backs) to stick on the pipe cleaners just for fun because I had them on hand. This is a great activity for your little one to do while sitting in their high chair.

Heart Window
Cut some hearts out of scrap pieces of paper! These paper scraps are left over from making this valentine card! Use this tape or this tape (so you won’t damage your home) to randomly tape the hearts all over a window (or door, or mirror…) that your baby likes to frequent. They will love pulling the hearts off and exploring the sticky tape on their fingers. I recommend making the hearts bigger for younger babies doing this activity! You could also use pre-made foam hearts!
