National School Nurses Day is a special day for us to honor and celebrate the incredible, hard-working school nurses who provide vital health care and support to our students. Here are five meaningful ways you can recognize their service and thank them on this special day.
School Nurse Appreciation Ideas
Here are five simple ideas to help you and your students appreciate your school’s nurse.
Send a message of appreciation on social media.
Social media has become an incredibly powerful platform for recognizing and thanking school nurses on National School Nurse Day. Use your school’s social media page or website to publically thank your school nurse. This kind gesture will show them how much you appreciate their hard work and dedication to our students.
Make a donation to a school nurse organization or program in their name.
For those wanting to do more, consider making a donation to an organization or program that supports school nurses in their work. Giving monetary contributions is a great way to recognize and thank the hard-working nurses around us. Donations can be made to the National Association of School Nurses, or to your local school nurse organization or program. This meaningful gesture will show gratitude and help these amazing individuals make an even bigger impact on our student’s health and wellbeing
Give special treats or gifts to your school nurse.
On National School Nurse Day, you can show your appreciation to school nurses by providing special treats and gifts to their staff. A thoughtful gesture such as personal cards, gift baskets of snacks and treats, handmade thank you notes, or even tickets to a special venue would be a great way to express your gratitude and honor the nurses in your community while showing them how important they are to everyone.
This sweet class book is one of the best gifts you can give to your school nurse. Just print the cover and a letter page for each student. Students will each write a little letter and draw a picture for the school nurse to add to the book.
Then, just put all of the letters together in a folder or binder to make a little book! Warning: Expect tears from the school nurse. They will absolutely love this personalized gift! Everything you need is included in, National School Nurses Day-Activities for Celebrating the School Nurse.
Decorate your school nurse’s door or a bulletin board.
Students can help with the bulletin board by creating their own band-aid craft for the bulletin board.
Restock your nurses’ supplies.
I didn’t realize that just like teachers, school nurses often work with very small budgets too! They often run out of Kleenex, band-aids, hand sanitizer, and Lysol wipes! They also are often dealing with multiple students at one time so items like coloring books and children’s books can be helpful to have on hand. Check with your school nurse and see what items might be helpful to them.
