I think it’s a fact that most kids love learning about dinosaurs and fossils! There are so many fun activities to go with your study of dinosaurs! This post will show you how to make fossils with your kids or your class!
Ingredients:
This recipe will make enough for a class of about 20. Feel free to cut this recipe in half if you are doing it at home with your own children!
- 2 cups salt
- 2 cups water
- 4 cups flour
Directions:
- Make the dough by combining all of the ingredients above.
- Give each child a ball of dough. Flatten the ball into the shape of cookie then imprint your object of choice. I used a set of small plastic dinosaurs like these! These work great too!
- Optional step: Add a name to the fossil. Since I was doing this project with my class, each fossil needed a name! I typed each student’s name, printed them out on white copy paper and cut them out to bake in each fossils. It worked perfectly!
- Bake the fossils at 200º for 3 hours or until dry. I recommend flipping them during baking if you can. After my students made their fossils, we put them straight a cookie sheet and I just took them home to bake.
That’s it! I hope you enjoyed learning how to make fossils and that you can do this activity with your own little ones.
