This counting caterpillar is an oldie, but a goodie! It’s one of my favorite math activities for little ones because it allows practice with:
- Cutting
- Gluing
- Fine motor skills (making a paper chain)
- Recognizing numbers
- Ordering numbers
This counting caterpillar is an all around winner and it’s SO easy to prep! Seriously, just print on colored paper and go! Even better? It’s FREE and differentiated! What does differentiated mean? It just means that there are different versions of the activity for you to choose from to meet your child’s needs. Here are the options you have to choose from:
- Counting by 1’s: Order the numbers 0-10! This option is best for children just learning numbers or who need extra practice with number recognition and ordering. Most older preschool kids should be ready for this and kindergartners.
- Counting by 2’s: Order the numbers 0-20 counting by 2’s. This option is best for first grade age students.
- Counting by 5’s: Order the numbers 0-50 counting by 5’s. This option is appropriate for kindergartners who are ready for a challenge or first grade students.
- Counting by 10’s: Order the numbers 0-100 counting by 10’s. This option is appropriate for kindergarten and first grade kiddos.
