Looking for a way to keep your kids learning this summer? Our 2024 Summer Learning Calendar for Kids is here to help! Featuring fun and educational activities every day of the month, your little ones can explore science, art, math, and more.
Printable Summer Learning Calendars
Even though school is out for summer, learning can still continue! These simple summer learning calendars are perfect to send home with your students to encourage learning throughout the summer!
These calendars were created with preschool-aged children in mind! As you know, little ones learn so much through play and just their everyday activities. These calendars really focus on those things and some other kindergarten readiness skills too.
These calendars are not year specific so they can be reused each year!
What’s included on the summer learning calendars?
As you know, little ones learn so much through play and just their everyday activities. These calendars really focus on those things and some other kindergarten readiness skills too. Here are a few of the many ideas included on the May, June and July calendars:
- Make a list of 5 things that start with the letter H.
- Find 5 rectangles in your house.
- Sort a collection of coins. Can you name any of the coins?
- Read a book outside.
- Practice saying your address.
- Write your name with colored markers. (These are my favorite!)
- Build a blanket fort.

I recommend printing these calendars on white cardstock for added durability and encouraging children to color the box daily for each activity that they complete! The calendars could also be printed on colored paper too!

Other ideas for summer learning:
In addition to the activities listed on the summer calendars, here are a few other great ideas to encourage summer learning:
Read every day.
One great way to keep your children learning this summer is to set aside time for them to read every day. Reading allows them to explore different genres and topics, and it also helps to improve vocabulary, critical thinking, and other important skills. Choose books that match their interests or encourage them to pick out books they’re curious about.
Create fun arts and crafts projects.
Art is a great way to encourage creativity and self-expression. Kids can create projects with many different materials such as paper, paint, crayons, markers, and more! You can provide them with prompts or let them explore their own ideas – either way, art is great for boosting problem-solving skills all while having fun.
Take virtual field trips.
You don’t have to leave your house to experience something new! Use the internet and whatever devices you have available to explore local or even global landmarks. Encourage your child to learn something new every day by discovering all the wonders of nature, culture, architecture, and more. Virtual field trips can also be educational, offering up a fun way of learning about different countries and cultures.
Watch engaging videos and documentaries.
With educational videos and documentaries, your kids can learn about almost anything imaginable – from animal conservation to cosmic exploration! There are plenty of cool documentaries suitable for children on streaming platforms. Have them watch educational short films or TV shows that focus on topics such as science and the environment.
Podcasts can also be a fun thing to enjoy!
Set a realistic goal for the summer and check them off!
Summer can be a great time to improve skills, or even learn new ones. Encourage kids to set realistic goals they can work towards throughout the summer and find ways together to keep them on track. Allow them to check off their accomplishments and celebrate any achievements no matter how small! This will boost their confidence and show them just how far they have come as well as encourage them to continue learning after the summer wraps up.
