I think one of the reasons I love Easter so much is because of the Easter treats. Chocolate bunnies, marshmallow peeps, jellybeans, count me in! I shared this activity forever ago, but I wanted to share it again! Jelly Bean Addition is fun for hitting multiple skills and sweetening up the day! Printable jellybeans are also included if giving children candy isn’t your thing. Here are a few skills it focuses on:
- Sorting by color
- Reading color words
- Counting and naming a quantity
- Number writing
- Addition
Directions:
- Print the Jelly Bean addition activity. Instantly download it HERE or if you are already part of my Free Resource Library, you can grab it there. Prepare the jelly beans. You can use either real jellybeans (just be sure the bag contains purple, green, yellow and pink jellybeans) or print the provided jellybean cards. If you are giving children real jelly beans, be sure to give them an appropriate number for counting. I would say no more than 10 of each color. You could even give them zero of one color to practice addition with 0.
- Children will sort the jelly beans by color.
- Children will color the jelly beans on the Jelly Bean Addition page by reading each color word.
- Students will write the corresponding number next to each jelly bean and solve the addition problem.
I hope your littles ones have fun learning with this activity!
